July Fourth is a celebrative, patriotic time in the life of our country every year. Most of you reading this edition of Legacy Living will spend the weekend with family and friends, perhaps grilling out and watching a fireworks display. Let me extend an invitation to you and your friends to start the weekend by attending our “God & Country” worship service
during FOCUS, July 2, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in the main auditorium. It is going to be GRAND! (You may want to dress in red, white, and blue.)
I want to also make you aware of an attraction that is due to open in August of this year… The Armed Forces Military Museum in Largo, Florida. A couple from our church had an opportunity to do a walk-thru recently and
made me aware of this opportunity. In addition to the museum, they will have an on-site exterior memorial walk and garden honoring those who served in our armed forces. This
memorial will provide a personal history to museum visitors. Patronages may purchase an engraved recognition brick to honor their friends and loved ones. The Armed Forces Military Museum, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) IRS approved Charitable Foundation.
The museum is one of the largest collections of military memorabilia in the State of Florida. On display are authentic artifacts ranging from WWI on through to the present day soldier. The museum is designed not only to educate, but to make the learning process fun and moving with its interactive environment. You may also preserve your family history by donating or loaning photographs, memorabilia, journals, letters, etc., to the “Wall of Heroes” and memorialize your loved one’s service at no cost to you. Your personal items will be sealed in a shadow box and on display for as long as you and your family wish. For more information please contact the museum at www.armedforcesmuseum.com.
we have our men’s BBQ already planned on the calendar. How about eating early at 10:30 a.m. at Fellowship Park, and then travel up to Largo as a group and tour the facility? I can reserve a bus which can accommodate
50 (perhaps reserve the bus for the men who do not drive) and carpool the remainder. We could leave at 11:30 a.m. and be there around 1:00 p.m. The museum closes at 4:00 p.m. I would like to have your feedback. This
could really be one special day spent together. Please check out the remainder of this Legacy Living edition for other future events and opportunities.
