Core Classes

How To Study The Bible:  Digging Deeper

Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM

Taught by Nate Flood – No charge, Room H182

If you’ve ever heard someone talk about reading something in the “original language” or seen them point out how a passage is reflected all throughout Scripture and wondered, “How did they do that?”, we’ll be demystifying the process of correctly interpreting the Word of God. In part two of our Bible study methods course, we focus on the interpretive phase of the inductive Bible study method presented in part one. Through study and hands-on practice, we’ll discover incredible tools available to learners at every level.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

This class is available to those who have not yet completed “How To Study The Bible – Basics,” but both classes are important for a full understanding of the course material.

Cherish:  The One Word That Changes Everything For Your Marriage

Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM

Video study facilitated by Ron Cook – No charge, Room H183

Most marriages survive by gritting teeth and holding on. But marriages can, and will, not only survive, but thrive when husbands and wives learn to cherish one another. Author Gary Thomas shows that although there are countless marriages consisting of two people just going through the motions, there are real ways this pattern can be reversed:  when husbands and wives learn to cherish one another in proven, loving, and everyday actions and words. Through personal stories and real world examples, Thomas proves what husbands and wives can begin doing today to turn their marriage around, even a marriage marred by neglect and disrespect.

Women’s Ministry: Hosea, Unfailing Love Changes Everything

Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM

Taught by Women’s Ministry Teaching Team – No charge, Fellowship Hall

The book of Hosea is a deeply personal, passionate, but difficult love story, depicting the exclusive covenant relationship between the faithful and merciful Lord God and His wayward and spiritually adulterous people. The prophet who delivers this Biblical message uses the backdrop of his own problematic marriage to represent the strained relationship between a church bride, who had been drawn away from her total devotion to the Lord, and a heavenly husband who was committed to love His chosen people unconditionally.

This study of Hosea, a prophetic Biblical book in the Old Testament, will challenge and encourage you with the repeated imagery of judgment and discipline for sin, coupled with the gracious process of repentance, redemption, and restoration found in returning to the Lord. This study of God’s Word will provide a valuable illustration of unwavering love shown to an undeserving people who chose idolatry over their Creator. Yet, even more amazing, it provides an example of the lasting impact of forgiveness and restoration within a close relationship.

Why Luther?

Taught by Kent Commons

Zoom, Tuesdays at 7:00 PM, starting Oct 6

Ask anyone… Who is the Father of the Reformation? And the name that crops up is Martin Luther. Martin Luther broke new theological ground and was involved in an extraordinary event at a church, thereby becoming the Father of the Protestant Religion. But was he, or for that matter was he even the best theologian? No, he wasn’t, and yet yes, he was. Martin and his predecessors had no desire to start a new religion, and yet, working together, they changed the way we worship yet today.
